InvenSense, Inc. (NYSE: INVN) announced July 9 that it has filed an answer and counterclaims against STMicroelectronics, Inc. in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California in response to what it believes are meritless allegations by ST of patent infringement in relation to InvenSense’s innovative MotionTracking™ devices and gyroscope products.
In its answer and counterclaims, InvenSense denies infringement and validity of the nine patents asserted by ST in a complaint filed on May 16, 2012. In addition, InvenSense has brought its own counterclaims against ST for alleged infringement of two InvenSense patents, U.S. Patent No. 7,290,435 and U.S. Patent No. 7,458,263. As set forth in its counterclaims, InvenSense alleges that these patents are infringed by ST 3-axis gyroscope products.
